Owned and operated by Emily LaMarca, von LaMarca German Shepherds is located in Hammond, Louisiana. Specializing in Long coat working lines but we also have short coat; colors include: Blacks, sables, and Bicolors. The majority of my dogs are West German or Slovak lineage. I do not have any show lines. I breed for functional working structure, confident stable temperaments, and plenty of drive for any working venues.

I grew up raising horses and barrel racing which is where I developed an appreciation for a fine pedigree and seeing these genetics in action. From my first German Shepherd I found a passion for working dogs. I am currently active in PSA which is a protection sport that focuses heavily on secondary obedience and control as well as ability to handle pressure by creating a variety of scenarios designed to challenge the dog in all aspects.

I often get messages from people requesting to come "tour the facility" but there is no facility. There is no big training building or dozens of kennels or employees strolling the property. These are my personal dogs. This is a hobby/passion and not a profitable business. My dogs live in my home, puppies are born in my spare bedroom and raised in the house and I set up a large playpen for them once they are bigger. I only own a handful of dogs because I can only compete with a couple at a time and because I usually keep my retired dogs for the duration of their lives.

I do not operate as a high volume breeding kennel, I plan for 2 litters a year. I ultimately enjoy these dogs and training and have had fun in sport and I breed because I want to share the type of dogs I enjoy with others and preserve what GSD's are meant to be. I strive for balanced, stable, highly driven dogs who are not only excellent in sport and working venues but genuinely enjoyable companions as well and I try to produce the type of German Shepherd that I feel embodies what the breed is meant to be based on the written standard for working line shepherds. Each litter is curated to produce working dogs while maintaining strong nerves, stability, and overall solid temperaments so that they are equally capable of thriving in solid active family homes. These dogs still require good training and structure in life but should not be unpleasant to train or live with.
